TUBE BOAT (1990)

"I went to Palau Islands the other day. Flight to Palau was almost the same as going to Hawaii but there is no comparison between Palau and Hawaii - Palau was far more beautiful. Literally, the bottomless blue sky, the light blue sea is so transparent that we almost forget if there is any water, watching the tropical fish dancing in the corals made me feel as if I was looking into a nature kaleidoscope.
Visiting islands on a cruiser, trolling near the Leaf, walling in the sea in the diving point with a scuba diving set which has high-tech emergency safety functions…. I spent very fulfilling 3 days.
However it happened on the last day of the trip. I went to the beachside to get the most of the place before the departure as I didn't want to waste any minutes but I hadn't booked a boat. What I only had was a swimming tube but it wasn't good enough to play with.
I was reluctantly lying on a bench thinking what I should have to have fun then. People still want motorboats, parasail and scuba diving etc. to play even in a place like Palau.
People can still have fun by trying wind surfing or dingy, Jet Ski in dirty marine resorts in Japan. But these marine leisure equipments are usually very expensive and the reason why it hasn't become a major leisure is that people have to have a proper license or high technique to drive them. Carrying them is also a hard job, too.
On the other hand, if we look at the cheap price category, we have very cheap options such as swimming tubes, swimming goggles, snorkel and beach balls but there are no options in the middle price range category, which I believe a very marketable range from 50,000 yen to 100,000 yen, between the expensive and cheap price ranges. Why is that?"

The main point of the presentation, which starts with the column above, was to say the material to acquire buoyant force hampers marine leisure products.
That means if we want to acquire a certain buoyant force with low cost, we only have vinyl or expanded polystyrene as options and we cannot expect a good product value with such materials. If we use rubber, development cost will go up accordingly to the material price and the weight and size will hamper if we use plastic. So the main point of this presentation was to suggest utilizing the tire tubes for marine leisure products as they are sold to motor companies with such low price.
I came up with this idea as I caught a whiff of summer but forgot all about it when the autumn breeze blew. This was a whimsical idea just like a small incident in summer.
